RE: Efficient Crockpots?

When we have potluck events at work, I'm always amazed at the variety of crock pots that show up. Personally, I can't stand the ones with plastic lids. I envision what heat there is escaping out the top.

RE: Hockey pucks to engage overload spring

I vote for the tube steel with the stock bump stop bolted to it. The stock stop is made of the best material to do the job and all you really want to do is extend it.

RE: Fish patties

I tend to make my patties out of fish I consider too small to eat regular. IMO, 8" fish or smaller is tough to get meat without bone so I cook them and pull meat off the bones with my hands.

RE: Crock Pot Sausage & Egg Casserole

Add layers of frozen hash brown potatoes to really make it good.
If you like a potato base, I made one using frozen potato skin appetizers, cut into small pieces. The bacon, sour cream and cheese flavors were nice.

RE: 2 Studs or 3 Studs? ... That Is the Question!

Is there no way to drill it out yourself? $40 is probably their book time which means it probably only takes about 15 minute sto fix.

RE: MMOOOOOOOO Cake!

Does it get iced with anything? What is the finished consistancy? Is it like rocky road cake?

RE: "Best Meals in a Truck Camper"

For you breakfast burrito folks, I invented one this summer that incorporated a leftover hamburger, some french fries and some cheese mixed with the eggs. I call it the cheese burger breakfast burrito. They're awesome. Personally, I'm a dessert nut and love baking pies and cobblers in my camper oven.

I saw a link on the Fishsniffer today about the Kokanee starting their run. I love looking at those red, hook jawed kokes.

RE: Covering camper for winter rain

I'm on my second season with my ADCO Tyvek cover. What I like about it is it came in white. Here in the Sacramento valley, the summer heat is as much of a concern as water in the winter.

RE: Truck Sag

The passenger side is commonly heavier because of the slide mechanism but if it didn't lean before, it has to be a suspension problem. Do you use air bags? Maybe one ruptured?

RE: Using camper oven

I have a friend that is going to let me try her pampered chef. I will be cooking a casserole/dressing so your saying I should be the stoneware under the flame?
I'd set the pyrex dish directly on the stone, on the rack.

RE: Using camper oven

I own both the stone and the air bake sheet. I use one or the other or even both depending on what I'm making. If I'm making french fries or pizza, I just bake directly on the stone, on the rack. If I'm doing bread items, I put the stone on the bottom of the oven (between rack and flame) and my cooking items on the air bake sheet.

RE: Meat in the freezer

We buy as many $6.99 frozen turkeys as I can get at Thanksgiving and use them throughout the year. I've used the last one right at a year later and couldn't tell a bit of difference from the first.

RE: Delicious potato dish for pot-lucks and BBQ's

Whoever gave me my copy of this recipe puts corn flake cereal on top for a crunchy topping. This is great for serving a crowd.

RE: Siimple Apple Cheesecake

Sorry, I'm confused. What do you mean by do not separate? They are in a tube, don't you have to separate the rolls from each other?
When you open the tube, they are all rolled up with a little perforation line to separate at for making the individual rolls. If you don't separate them, you are left with a sheet of dough.

RE: Vegatarian Recipes

Anyone have any good vegatarian camp recipes?
Where do you draw the line, meat, cheese, eggs, milk? There are lots of great pasta-veggie dishes that come to mind. If you are open to alfredo sauce, all the better.
